Atlanta police raid of the Atlanta Eagle on Ponce; make illegal arrests, disdain for gays known

The anonymous tip was that someone, somewhere might have seen sex performed at the bar one day (story here, pictures here).

One arrest they made was of a guy that lived above the club/bar. They knocked on his apt door, asked if anyone was having sex in there, why is there a bed is here, to which the tenant replied because I live here. He was forced out of his apartment and led downstairs and arrested with other employees. Police officers apparently were high-fiving each other, and said, “You people are despicable,” referring, we assume, to gays.

Yes, I did hear about this and it pisses me the fuck off. I also heard that there were 60-70 people in the bar. Half were watching project runway and the other half were watching the football game. The made all of the patrons lay on the floor (OF A CLUB!) face down while they went through everyone’s pockets and NOT ONE person was arrested for possession of anything.

From the rumor mill at work, I heard there’s apparently 62 lawsuits against the city for civil rights violations. When the police chief was confronted by some patrons that were there, he said that he “didn’t have anything against people who have a gay *preference.*” That response didn’t go over well to say the least. A ‘gay preference’ — honey, my only gay preference is how gay I feel like being.

Also, the leader of the police squad was reported to be in the Eagle 45 minutes prior to the raid and saw a patron dancing on the bar in his underwear….which if I’m not mistaken, that’s not illegal.

The most disappointing part of the whole story is that CNN refuses to pick it up for some reason. I mean, this is an ATLANTA story… Don Lemon is gay…AC360 loves the cock…. I can’t believe that I watched the story (repeated over 4 times yesterday) going into detail about a Cheerleader from Louisiana who shot a fucking alligator with a crossbow on CNN.com/live. If I was GayFish Kanye, I’d steal the mic and say the City of Atlanta hates Gays.

deewwwd – it’s also a violation of 4th amendment rights. once the cops have frisked someone and subsequently find nothing, that person is free to go. but they detained everyone on the floor – sick! – for a few hours and turned up nada. AND the cops are not legally allowed to perform ID background checks w/o consent, which they did.

I can’t believe Pennington wasted APD’s time & resources like this when people are getting shot & robbed left and right.
